The Kick-off Reception for the Camp for All Campfest took place on February 2, 2011, one of coldest nights in Houston this winter. The Tasting Room in Uptown Park in the Galleria area was the site of this special event, where guests mingled enjoying fine wine along with Pizza and cheese for appetizers.
Guests were encouraged to participate in the raffle by buying tickets for a chance to win a 3.57 carat Black Diamond surrounded by 16 Round Brilliant diamonds, which was generously donated by I.W.Marks. This wonderful piece of jewelery was modelled by Taylor Lanning and many guests were blinded by the beauty of model and stone. You could tell the ticket purchasers by the many blinking lights in the room.
Founder Dr. Paul Gerson expressed his passion and achievement for the Camp, which is open year-round for kids with specail needs, such as cancer, muscular dystrophy, epilepsy, severe burns, sickle cell among others. Camp For All is located between Houston and Austin near the scenic country town of Burton in Washington County.
The Campfest 2011 "Reaching for the Stars" will be held at the River Oaks Country Club on February 19, 2011 honoring Insurance Alliance, Peter Boudreaux and The Houston Alumnae Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta.
