| Statement of Purpose: |
The Virginia Service Foundation
will support the activities of the
Governor’s Advisory Board on
Volunteerism and National Service
in its role to promote
volunteerism and national service.
Activities of the Board are
prescribed each year by an
Executive Order issued by the
Governor. Among its
responsibilities
• To promote and support
AmeriCorps programs to meet
Virginia’s most pressing human,
educational, environmental, and
public safety needs.
• To collaborate with the
Department of Social Services and
other public and private entities
to recognize and call attention to
the significant community service
contributions of Virginia citizens
and organizations.
• To promote and coordinate State
programs offering opportunities
for community service within the
Commonwealth.
• To work with the Department of
Social Services on promoting the
involvement of faith based
organizations in community and
national service efforts. |
