This free, family-friendly event transforms Mill Avenue into an action-packed outdoor experience filled with interactive activities, live performances, local vendors and hands-on ways to explore Downtown Tempe. Designed to get people moving, try something new and discover the district in a different way, Urban Adventure brings together high-energy programming, community activations and local businesses for a day that blends entertainment with exploration. April event highlights include: Outdoor Market and Kids Market The event features an outdoor market with more than 75 Arizona-based makers offering handmade goods, art and unique creations. A dedicated Kids Market highlights young entrepreneurs selling their own artwork and products, encouraging creativity and small business spirit from kids ages 5 to 17. Pop-Up Farmers Market For the first time, the event will feature a pop-up farmers market in partnership with the City of Tempe Sustainability and Resilience Division, offering a glimpse into what a future farmers market in Tempe could look like. Local farmers and food producers will be on-site selling Arizona-grown and Arizona-made products, including fresh fruits and vegetables, eggs, honey, mushrooms, baked goods, hummus, jams and more. Attendees can also take part in a seed planting activity and share feedback with the city about what they would like to see in a long-term farmers market. Shop Downtown, Score Freebies Attendees who shop at any 2nd Sundays on Mill market vendor or any downtown business can bring their receipts to the Info Booth at 5th Street and Mill Avenue to redeem a reusable canvas tote and additional giveaways while supplies last. The tote can be used throughout the event, including at the pop-up farmers market. Open Streets Tempe 2nd Sundays on Mill Urban Adventure will take place alongside the Open Streets Tempe event, expanding the experience beyond the market with a bike parade, community activities and additional opportunities to explore the downtown streets in a new way. High-Energy Experiences and Interactive Challenges A dedicated circus tent from Rave Circus will bring aerialists, acrobats, jugglers and more to the event, adding a dynamic, performance-driven element to the day. Attendees can also jump into a range of interactive challenges, including a 150-foot obstacle course, a 24-foot rock climbing wall, and a virtual reality simulator. Live BMX stunt shows from Stunt Masters will take place at scheduled intervals, bringing high-flying action to the streets. Live Entertainment Live, rotating music will be programmed throughout the event, creating a steady soundtrack across the footprint. Guests can also explore a showcase of classic and custom Volkswagen vehicles presented by Desert Dubs Arizona and take on 18 holes of free mini golf available for all ages. Food and Drink Attendees can enjoy the four local snack and drink vendors throughout the event and are also encouraged to stop into any local business along Mill Avenue. Each themed event brings a different energy to Mill Avenue, encouraging visitors to explore new blocks, try new activities and downtown merchants, and connect with their downtown in new ways. Mill Avenue will be closed to vehicle traffic between Third Street and University Drive for the 2nd Sundays on Mill event. With a little planning, getting to and around Downtown Tempe is a breeze, with more than 20,000 parking spaces available across the district and several free options on Sundays. Valley Metro Light Rail makes a stop at the start of the event at Third Street and Mill Avenue, and you can park for free at 13 Park and Ride locations around the Valley. Visitors can also take advantage of the free bike valet operated by Tempe Bicycle Action Group, located at Seventh Street and Mill Avenue.
