Description

In recognition of Earth Day (April 22), LSU Hilltop Arboretum’s Discover Nature series will explore recycling and repurposing efforts in the Baton Rouge community.

This panel-style program will feature representatives from Glass Half Full, Republic Services, Keep Tiger Town Beautiful, and Capital Area Corporate Recycling Council. Speakers will discuss how materials are collected, processed, and repurposed locally, common misconceptions about recycling, and practical steps residents can take to reduce waste and increase diversion from landfills.

Topics will include glass recycling innovation, municipal recycling systems, litter prevention, community cleanup initiatives, and specialty material recycling options available in the Capital Region.

This program is designed for residents, educators, businesses, and anyone interested in strengthening environmental stewardship through informed, responsible waste practices.
