Description

Weekends in the Park invites 5th graders to experience Grand Teton National Park in winter through a 3-day, 2-night adventure rooted in real science, exploration, and discovery. This February, students will step into the role of wildlife scientists: snowshoeing and tracking animals across the winter landscape, learning how mammals survive cold and snow, and investigating the hidden stories written in tracks, scat, and signs. Participants will work alongside scientists from the University of Wyoming on the Canid Coexistence Project, helping monitor red fox populations through wildlife tracking and camera trap research. Through hands-on field science, collaborative inquiry, and time outdoors in one of the world's most iconic winter ecosystems, students will discover how scientists study wildlife, how humans and animals share space, and how curiosity can lead to stewardship. Designed to spark wonder, confidence, and a sense of belonging in Wyoming's public lands, Weekends in the Park offers students the chance to explore, ask questions, and be part of real research, right in their own backyard. Date and Time: On Fri, 24 Apr 2026 09:00 - Sun, 26 Apr 2026 11:00 Category: Community
