Description
Walking in the Garden District neighborhood, you’ll see mature live oak trees lining the boulevards and feel as if the whole area is one large garden tour. One of the oldest neighborhoods in Baton Rouge, The Garden District is in the Mid-City area between Government Street and Park Boulevard and made up of a conglomerate of three historic districts defined by the Louisiana National Register of Historic Places: Roseland Terrace, Drehr Place, and Kleinert Terrace.
Homes vary between grand and upscale or quaint and modest each connecting by sidewalks and alleys. Preservationists have continued to uphold and maintain the neighborhood’s beauty and appeal. You’ll notice a homeowner’s pride in the historic plaques posted on their homes.
