Description
One of the most essential members of the plant kingdom is the mighty oak tree. An oak tree's role in the health of our environment is irreplaceable, and it's no wonder it is proclaimed the national tree of the United States. We invite you to learn how to honor, preserve and protect our old oaks and start new ones at Hilltop Arboretum's "Celebration of the Oak" on Sunday, December 8, 2004, from 1-4 pm. Learn about the history and rich ecology of native oak trees. Hear from experts on how to care for these treasured oaks, including tips for planting and maintaining oaks of your own. Tree saplings, books, and tree guides will be available for purchase. Small bites, beverages and spirits included with each registration. Bring the kids! Activities and crafts will be provided for children. Children under 12 enter for free.
