About the Presentation
A look at the rich history of camellias that highlights the most common species, bloom types, planting, and care tips. Louisiana developed and popular cultivars will be highlighted, including the camellia sinensis, the tea plant. That’s right tea comes from a species of camellias!
Following the presentation, camellias will be available for purchase in 1 gal ($14 + tax) and 3 gal ($27 + tax) pots. Cash, checks and credit cards are accepted.
About the Speaker
Paige Mizell is Vice President of Mizell’s Camellia Hill Nursery. Paige has always worked on the side with her parents throughout her childhood in various horticultural endeavors and began working full time at the nursery in 2014. Prior to that, she was a junior high and high school teacher, coached soccer, the dance team and was the sponsor of the Key Club. Paige has a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in criminal justice from Southeastern Louisiana University. She has a master’s degree in low incidence disabilities special education and applied clinical psychology from Valdosta State University and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in applied clinical sports psychology. Paige is also a past president of the Southeast Louisiana Nursery Association.
